The hot spring is to have medical properties which is used both intensively and extensively for the cure of skin diseases

I had got chance to visit Atri, a small village in the Khordha district in Odisha is around 15 km west of Khordha city. Atri is famous for its perennial hot spring and temple of Lord Shiva Hatakeswar Mahadev. The temple is the venue of a grand annual fair “Makar Mela” on the day of Makar Sankranti every year. On this day the visitors congregate in large numbers to worship Lord Hatakeswar to fulfill their desires and they also bath in the ponds to get cured of their diseases. The hot spring is to have medical properties which is used both intensively and extensively for the cure of skin diseases. The water of the hot spring 57 °C contains small doses of sulphur flavour when heated to 100 °C.
