Ancient Caves in Akkampalli in Andhra Pradesh

An archaeologically significant discovery of a group of ancient caves inhabited by ancient humans was reported in Akkampalli near Kurnool district’s Sanjamala. The site was found by researchers and is thought to be contemporary with the existing rock sites at Ketavaram and Chontakunta near Kadapa district’s Muddanur. The caves contain art-work that depicts the state of civilisation and culture 7000 years ago. About dozens of images are of crocodiles. The sites is known as ‘musalla gundu’ (boulder of crocodiles).
