“Jai Jawan Jai Kisan” an inspiring slogan by Lal Bahadur Shastri, he lifted the morals of the Indians. He had the strength of character, determination, indomitable will-power, impeccable honesty, die-hard sincerity and deep sensitivity which are the hallmarks of a great man. He had come up the real hard way training miles and miles for school education and burning mid-night oil and saving every penny for college education. Suffering immense hardships and punishing jail terms for his active role in freedom struggle. So he well understood the plight of common man and human values. He suffered a massive heart attack and died on January 11, 1966 at Tashkent, after signing the Peace Pack with Pakistan in the presence of the Russian Prime Minister. The entire country was shell-shocked by his tragic demise.
